The Mill Creek watershed tells a powerful story of how decades of development reshaped a once-thriving natural system and how Northeast Ohio communities are now working to restore balance.
West Creek Conservancy plays a central role in this work, particularly through its long-term efforts in Cricket Lane in Warrensville Heights, where voluntary home buyouts and floodplain restoration have helped reduce erosion, mitigate flooding, and stabilize neighborhoods along Mill Creek. This work has been made possible through strong partnerships, including critical support from the Watershed Stewardship Center
Up Mill Creek, produced by Midstory in partnership with West Creek Conservancy, Cleveland Metroparks and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, explores this history while highlighting the people, neighborhoods, and partnerships driving meaningful change across the watershed. Together, these efforts demonstrate how collaborative, community-centered conservation can reconnect people to land and water while building resilience for the future. Read the story here.
