Kara Benninghofen

Kara joined West Creek Conservancy in 2022, bringing expertise in native plant cultivation and community engagement to the team. As the manager of Stearns Native Nursery, she oversees every aspect of its operations, from propagation and cultivation, to plant distribution and installation, ensuring the nursery delivers high-quality native species that enhance biodiversity in restoration projects and community green spaces. Beyond managing the nursery, Kara plays a vital role in marketing and outreach efforts, raising awareness about sustainability and promoting greener lifestyles. She also serves as the volunteer coordinator, where she recruits, trains, and leads dedicated volunteers who support nursery operations, habitat restoration, and green infrastructure maintenance.

In addition to her role with West Creek Conservancy, Kara sits on the board of the Rocky River Watershed Council and is a Certified Watershed Steward with the Cleveland Metroparks. Passionate about empowering communities to embrace ecological initiatives, Kara combines her technical expertise with a deep commitment to fostering resilient, sustainable environments.
