Help Native Plants Thrive—One Seed at a Time
Native seed libraries rely on everyday plant lovers who help collect seeds from local ecotype plants throughout northeast Ohio. At Creekside Collaborative Partners, we clean and prepare these seeds for sowing, then package them for community distribution in partnership with local park districts and libraries. Together, we’re making native plants more accessible and empowering more people to support biodiversity at home.

What We Do
We take it from seed to community resource.
- Clean and process donated seeds
- Package them for community distribution
- Partner with local libraries and park districts to share them widely
- Provide educational resources to help residents plant and grow native species at home
Why It Matters
When more people have access to native plants, local ecosystems grow stronger. Seed libraries help expand pollinator habitat, restore natural resilience, and bring the beauty—and benefits—of native species back to our communities.
Winter Sowing
Winter sowing is a simple, cost-effective way to grow native plants by working with natural seasonal conditions. By using the natural freeze–thaw cycle, seeds germinate on their own timeline and develop into hardy plants ready for spring planting.
This method is beginner-friendly, and especially well-suited for native plants adapted to Northeast Ohio’s climate. All you need are a few clean milk jugs, soil, and a bit of outdoor space. These DIY “greenhouses” protect your seeds through winter and set them up for strong, healthy growth once spring arrives.
Our Winter Sowing resource provides clear, step-by-step guidance to help you get started. Learn more in our winter sowing resource

Sustainable Design for Your Yard
Take cues from nature. Even if you choose not to convert your home habitat to a completely naturalized landscape, such as a prairie or woodland, there are ways to design home landscapes that make spaces more environmentally healthy and family friendly.
Understanding Your Soil
Yards are at the forefront of local environmental stewardship. Because residential land use is the most dominant land use in urban communities, we have the power to create a healthy landscape with high functioning ecosystems.
